Harvest swapmeet is about making the most of your home gardening ventures. None of us have really got this home veggie thing down pat yet. We don’t always manage to sow that crop of carrots so that they are ready just when the others finish and we sometimes get a little over zealous and plant the whole packet of cauliflower seeds – just because we have them!
So if you sometimes find yourself bulking at the thought of eating any more roast eggplant, or the kids just can’t eat green beans again, then the swapmeet is the place to bring them, and hopefully you will be rewarded with a vegetable that makes a more welcome appearance at the dinner table that week.
No money changes hands Harvest swapmeet is about finding more receptive consumers for your excess vegies. Anything you take home should be considered a lovely bonus! No financial deals please.
Share the offerings around There is no need to make direct exchanges with other people. Just place your goodies out for all to admire and then after a while people will start to help themselves to the selection. Please be mindful of what other swappers may be interested in and not take all of one item unless no one else wants it.
Share your knowledge If you don’t have anything in the garden to give away this month, fear not - Come along anyway as Harvest swapmeet is also about sharing your gardening knowledge and taking the time to natter with other try-hards about their horticultural endeavours.
